How to Get a Natural Look with a Touch of Color

Don’t fall into the trap of hiding your natural beauty under pounds of cosmetics. Sometimes less really is more. Wearing too much makeup can make you look overdressed or even draw attention to things you would rather keep hidden. Don’t be afraid to go natural. You won’t have to abandon all color to achieve this look, just go lightly.

You Will Need:

Foundation or tinted moisturizer of your choice
Concealer of your choice
Translucent setting powder
Physician’s Formula Concealer Twins
ELF Brightening Eye Color in Luxe
ELF Brightening Eye Liner in Coffee or Ash
NYX Trios TS12 and TS35
Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara
Everyday Minerals blush in Soft Touch
Everyday Minerals face color in Wet Sands
Aquafina Lip Balm

Step 1: Apply a luminous foundation or tinted moisturizer where needed. Don’t feel bad if you need to apply all over your face. Some of us do need a little more help than others, but that is nothing to be ashamed about. Make sure to blend well into the neck and hair line if you must apply over the entire face.

Step 2: Apply concealer, concentrating under the eyes and on any redness on the cheeks or around the nose. Cover any blemishes.

Step 3: Sweep some Everyday Minerals Soft Touch blush across the apples of your cheeks for a healthy glow. This light pink shade will give you a touch of color without looking fake.

Step 4: Highlight your cheek bones by lightly dusting them where light naturally falls with Everyday Minerals Wet Sands face color. This gives you a fresh, youthful appearance.

Step 5: To keep your makeup in place all day, lightly dust the entire face with translucent powder.

Step 6: Apply the skin tone concealer from the Physician’s Formula Twins on your eye lids as a base. Make sure to use enough to cover your whole lid and brow bone evenly. This is the base for your eye shadow. Don’t skip using a base. If you do, your shadow will end up creased, smudges, or faded long before the end of the day.

Step 7: Using a small eye shadow brush, smudge Walnut Bronze from NYX Trio TS12 first along the lash line then up to the crease. Apply lightly so that the eye lid looks almost as though it has been stained with the color.

Step 8: Sweep the lighter brown from the ELF quad into the crease with a blending brush. You can smudge a little across the outer corner as well.

Step 9: Apply the middle shadow from NYX Trio TS35 on the brow bone. Blend a little into the inner corners of the eyes as well. This will help you to look awake and alert.

Step 10: Line your top lids very lightly with the ELF liner, being careful to start as close to the lash line as possible. Only line the outer two thirds of your eye. You can smudge a little liner into the lower lashes if you like, but this is optional.

Step 11: Curl your lashes and then apply Covergirl Lash Blast mascara lightly to the lashes. If you have long, thick lashes, you may want to wipe off the wand with some tissue before applying. This will keep your lashes from being overwhelmed with the mascara. Remember to use sparingly. Too much mascara on the lashes won’t look natural.

Step 12: Apply Aquafina Flavor Splash balm onto the lips and you’re done.

Tip: This look is easy to change from day to night. Simply apply a liquid liner to the top lash line and dab on a little of your favorite lipstick or gloss.
